What is Self-Assessment Week?

Lecturio’s Self-Assessment Week was created to help students measure their preparedness and get firsthand experience in a simulated USMLE testing environment. The self-assessment test is based on the latest NBME standards and includes 160 case questions, organized into 4 blocks. Each block is 60 minutes long – just like the USMLE Step 1 & 2 CK exams.

To provide an accurate comparison to previous self-assessments, all students who complete the self-assessment will receive a 3-digit score. While Step 1 has officially moved to a pass/fail scoring system, a Lecturio 3-digit score of 196+ is equivalent to a passing score on the actual Step 1 exam.

“I took the lecturio self-assessment towards the end of my dedicated Step 1 studies. It gave me a great picture of what topics I needed to review to finish strong in my studies, while also giving me a boost of confidence of what I already know. The assessment is shorter than Step 1, but it was long enough and well-encompassed the topics expected to be tested on the actual Step 1.”

No. The self-assessment can only be taken between February 26, 2024, 10 am CET and March 4, 2024, 10 am CET. (Look up your time zone here.)

Each question block in the self-assessment is allocated 60 minutes for completion. It’s important to allocate sufficient time to finish each block without interruptions. While it’s possible to pause the exam in between blocks, we advise completing each block in one sitting for a more effective and realistic exam simulation.

You can only access the self-assessment through the link we will send you. If you have completed the first block of your self-assessment, you should be able to see the self-assessment within the study planner section on your mobile app. You can complete the other three blocks there. Even though it is possible to take the self-assessment on the web browser of your mobile device, we recommend you to take it on your desktop.

The self-assessment consists of 4 blocks of 40 questions. Participants have 60 minutes for each block and need to spend at least 15 minutes on each block. To receive a score, all blocks must be completed. Unanswered questions will be marked incorrect.

The self-assessment scoring system is based on former USMLE score reports, consisting of a 3-digit score ranging between 1 and 300. The minimum passing score is 196, which is reflective of the USMLE’s new pass/fail scoring of Step 1. The minimum passing score for the USMLE Step 2 CK is 214.

The Self-Assessment Week results will be sent out via email on March 06, 2024, at 10 am CET. (Look up your time zone here.)

The Self-Assessment Week results, which will be sent out via email on March 6th, include a comprehensive report featuring your 3-digit score, a percentile ranking, and tailored study recommendations. Additionally, on February 26th, an email including a link to the self-assessment and a unique access link will be sent to all registrants. By clicking on this link, you will be able to access up to 14 days of Lecturio Premium features. Please note that this link is personalized and sharing it will lead to access issues. We will let you know how to activate your free trial via email. This Premium access allows you to explore further features such as adaptive review, in-depth explanations, high-quality illustrations for both correct and incorrect answers, and concept pages with additional review recommendations.

The Lecturio self-assessment scores are based on the performance of all self-assessment takers within the week of February 26, 2024, and March 4, 2024, following a set of requirements (e.g. minimum number of blocks to be answered) and the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK score distribution. Though the questions have been selected by US-trained physicians, the score and content presented in the Lecturio Self-Assessment Week are for educational purposes only. It should not be used as a prediction of your real performance on the USMLE exam.
